My name is Jerry Little, age 61.  Born in Sunflower Co. Mississippi, resident of Halifax Co. Virginia since 1978.  I have been in residential building since 1961 working with my father for eight years, then as a sub-contractor and contractor since then.  I am presently employed as an HVAC technician with Love Shop Heating & Air of South Boston, Virginia.

I have been a racing fan for close to 50 years of my life, and a Nascar fan for 40 years. Racing in Mississippi was mostly dirt track, mud track or drag racing with 1950's model chevy's which were mostly true stock cars. We did occasionally drop a cam in the motor or slip a Corvette transmission or rear gear in them and of course a 4 barrel Holly and lake
pipes!

The first "built engine" I saw was a 1965 or 66 GTO that my cousin bought from a friend of his Dad's that was an engineer for NASA at the rocket headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama. The man had completely built the engine, which with 3-deuces on it produced "he said" around 600 horsepower! The acceleration and speed of that car was unbelievable!! I have been hooked on speed ever since.

When I moved to South Boston in 1978, I knew nothing about the racing history of South Boston Speedway. But after watching my first race here, I was hooked again! Watching drivers like Jessie Spencer, Danny Willis Sr., Blankenship, Moon, the Burtons, and the many names to follow has been a part of my life since. And watching was great, but the best time of my life was to get invited to be a part of a team on that track!  I joined Mike Jones Racing in 2008, and got to be down there on the track and in the pits to learn the true racing experience. The first year was in pure stock and I will never forget the experience. There was a big learning curve, but there were many to help. Pure Stockers scrape money
together, work on the cars themselves, and give it their all just to get to race, and they're always ready to help even though they lose money with every race they run.

This past year, we moved to Limited Sportsman, and a new learning curve!  But, as before, there are always people willing to help.  We had our ups and downs. And as before, scraping money togeather to get to the next race. I am looking forward to next year, starting fresh and anticipating a better year.

Hope to see everyone again in 2010.
